CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

Are you a disabled wheelchair user and would like to experience a real New Zealand travel adventure with complete independence?

Renting a luxury 2-berth NZ Mobility Motorhome is your answer. This large campervan replaces the 4-berth motorhome previously shown on this website.

The Mobility Motorhome is custom coachbuilt by Vanco (see Links this page), and is based on the 3000cc 4 cylinder Fiat Ducato Xlwb 157hp diesel high roof van with MTA 6 speed automatic transmission. (Has an automatic clutch with an automatic or manual gear change selection option.) There are some important limiting factors for this Campervan design. There is only just enough room in front of the fridge for a wheelchair to park side on to the bed. The space is 1100mm X 720mm. (Also, the wheelchair backrest push handles height below 820mm to fit under shelf behind).  There is not much room for a care giver to assist bed/toilet/shower chair transfers and there is a short internal ramp, so this vehicle is really suitable for an independent wheelchair user. There is no wardrobe for clothes and apart from 3 roof rails for coathangers personal stuff will mostly have to remain in suitcases which will have to be moved about when going to bed. There is plenty of space under bed 10 inches or 255mm when its down or in front cab or shower area. The bed length from the head to foot wall is 6ft or 1830mm. The cab is fitted with hand controls and detachable steering wheel knob.(For various reasons the vehicle is not suitable for tetraplegics/quadraplegics to drive.) The fully adjustable swivel seats allow easy transfer from a wheelchair. The front seats also have sheepskin covers for added comfort. It also has electric windows and mirrors, radio/stereo CD player with steering wheel controls, airconditioning, cruise control, central locking/alarm/engine immoblizer with remote control. The home is fitted with a self-operating electric wheelchair lift which retracts and folds away under the floor of the main side entrance sliding door. The all important bathroom is .8 by 1.8 metres and is fitted with double bi-folding doors, shower and electric macerating flush toilet with holding tank. The wheel-in shower has an armless, height adjustable, removeable shower chair. The flip down bed is either a twin single 820 X 1800 each or king sized bed 1640 X 1800. The home is also fitted with 2 leisure batteries (156ah each), 2 liquid propane gas bottles (4kg each), a 12volt fridge (42litre), 3 gas cooktops, and gas/240volt hot water storage (14litre), and an expelair fan. The fresh water capacity is 200litres with equally sized waste grey and black tanks fitted with outside access and electric pumpout facilities. All tanks have capacity gauges. The leisure batteries are connected to 2 roof solar recharge panels of 80watts each. These 2 features allow for much longer independent periods, especially in isolated camping areas with minimal facilities.
